1. Summary
Swing Thoughts is designed as a local-first golf notes and practice journal app. Most user-created content is stored on the user's device. We do not sell personal information and we do not use data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
2. Information you create in the app
Depending on how you use the app, Swing Thoughts may process the following categories of data:
- golf thoughts, notes, descriptions, and shot-related entries;
- journal information such as practice dates, club types, scores, sensations, and notes;
- resources that you save in the app, including URLs, titles, tags, notes, and preview thumbnails;
- photos and videos that you add inside the app; and
- language and app preference settings.
3. Where data is stored
Most user-created content is stored locally on the device using on-device storage and files managed by the app. This means the core notes, journal content, and attached media are generally kept on your device rather than in a dedicated Swing Thoughts cloud account.
4. Analytics
Swing Thoughts may use Amplitude for product analytics in non-development builds. Analytics is intended to help improve the app and may include events such as onboarding progress, feature usage, language changes, paywall views, purchase flow results, and limited metadata about app activity.
The analytics implementation is designed to use event metadata such as counts, lengths, categories, or boolean values instead of transmitting the full text of your golf notes or journal entries for analytics purposes.
5. Crash reports and diagnostics
Swing Thoughts uses Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics. When an error or crash occurs, technical information may be sent to Sentry to help diagnose and fix the issue. Depending on the event and platform behavior, this may include device information, app version information, error details, and certain network or identifier data associated with the diagnostic event.
6. Subscriptions and purchases
Swing Thoughts may offer premium access through in-app subscriptions. Subscription and purchase-related processing may involve RevenueCat and the relevant app store provider, such as Apple or Google, in order to present offerings, validate purchases, restore purchases, and determine entitlement status.
7. External links and preview metadata
If you add supported external links, such as certain YouTube or TikTok links, the app may request preview metadata from the corresponding provider so it can display a title or thumbnail in the app. Those requests are made only when needed for that preview behavior.
8. Permissions
The app may request access to device features when you choose to use related functionality:
- photo library access to pick images or videos;
- camera access to take photos or record videos; and
- microphone access when recording video with audio, where supported by the platform.
You can decline these permissions, but the corresponding features may not work.
9. How we use information
We use information processed through the app to:
- provide the app's note-taking and journaling features;
- store and display media and saved resources;
- operate premium subscription access;
- understand product usage and improve the experience; and
- detect, investigate, and fix errors.
10. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers that help operate the app, such as Amplitude, Sentry, RevenueCat, app store payment providers, and external metadata providers for supported links, only to the extent relevant to their role.
11. Data retention
Content stored locally in the app generally remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app, subject to device and operating system behavior. Data processed by third-party service providers may be retained according to their own retention practices and legal obligations.
12. Your choices
- You can manage device permissions in your OS settings.
- You can delete locally stored content from inside the app or by removing the app from your device.
- You can manage subscriptions through the applicable app store account settings.
13. Children's privacy
Swing Thoughts is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through a dedicated account system.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
